Summer Rock Camp was founded in 2004 by Mike Finley and John Jordan.

Mike Finley is a long time Palo Alto resident who has taught and performed extensively in the area for over 25 years.  He currently teaches over 50 students and performs often as the lead bassist in Big Richard and the Merry Men.

John Jordan is a long time Los Altos/Mountain View resident who has taught and performed in the area for over 25 years.  He has been the choir teacher at Menlo School and was a member of the vocal faculty at Santa Clara University,  He currently maintains over 30 private students and runs groups during the school year as the owner of J ACE J Music. John is the lead vocalist/Guitarist for Pork Belly, Carnage Asada, the Rebel Elves, and Big Richard and the Merry Men. 

Counselors typically are in their 20’s, are long time students of either Mike Finley or John Jordan, have music degrees or working on it, are patient teachers, and play their butts off.  The Summer Rock Camp has been fortunate to retain most of our very talented counselors every year.   They help us maintain our 4:1 student to teacher ratio.
